Description

A study in darkness and light, the Nocturne Ring evokes the quiet hours when memory seems to linger most closely. At its center, a brilliant stone rests within a sterling starburst, surrounded by a field of deep black enamel. The scalloped edge frames the composition like the petals of a midnight flower, while the engraved shoulders add a delicate flash of pattern to the cool silver. It is a piece that feels almost celestial, one small point of light held carefully against the dark.

Black enamel became deeply associated with mourning jewelry during the Victorian era, when jewelry was often worn as a visible expression of grief, remembrance, and enduring devotion. I also have to mention the wonderful customer service. I’m based in France, and France wasn’t initially available as a shipping destination on the website. I contacted Ether, and Jenny was incredibly kind and responsive. She added France as a shipping option very quickly, which allowed me to order directly from the shop.
